The fifth-generation BMW 5 Series isn’t quite as well built as its predecessors, but its radical looks mean it’s a lot more eye-catching. Backed up by a range of delightfully driveable petrol and diesel engines and a deliciously involving chassis, that means this 5er is still one of the most desirable second-hand cars in its price range. You’ll want to watch out for some of the common faults that can crop up, though.
