Cons: Compared to a Nissan Leaf the ride is a bit fidgety and not as comfortable. The interior feels dark and rear visibility is compromised. Pros: Very well priced. Plenty of power. Good looks.

Theres nothing really to which you can compare this car. The price, kit , looks and driving pleasure are all there. Even the clean design of the dashboard looks good. Nothing to beat it at the price!

Quick Summary
The MG4 is a distinctive and modern electric hatchback that marks MG's coming of age in the 21st century. Built on the Modular Scalable Platform designed solely for electric vehicles, it benefits from a flat floor and slim battery pack that create an airy interior with excellent front-seat space and a 363-litre boot. The rear-wheel-drive layout delivers agile, lively handling with a smooth and supple ride. Available in multiple specifications, from the Standard Range with 217 miles of range to the Extended Range offering 338 miles, the MG4 provides genuine versatility for different driving needs.
The MG4 XPower variant adds dual motors and all-wheel drive with 429bhp for thrilling performance, achieving 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds. Charging is competitive, with 64kWh versions supporting rapid charging from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes. Build quality is solid and comparable to mainstream brands like Kia and Toyota, whilst residual values hold well against rivals. With its distinctive design, up-to-date technology, competitive pricing, and broad range of specifications, the MG4 represents strong value in the electric hatchback market.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking an enjoyable electric hatchback with strong value, those wanting generous equipment levels, and drivers interested in accessible performance (XPower variant).
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising maximum interior space and practicality, those requiring an intuitive infotainment system, or those concerned about long-term reliability records.

The Verdict
You should buy the MG4 if: You're seeking an enjoyable electric hatchback with strong value, want generous equipment levels, or are interested in accessible performance through the XPower variant.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise maximum interior space and practicality, require an intuitive infotainment system, or have concerns about long-term reliability records.
Competitive Position: The MG4 is a compelling proposition in the affordable electric hatchback segment, offering distinctive design, engaging driving dynamics, and competitive pricing against established rivals. Whilst the Volkswagen ID.3 provides more interior space and the Cupra Born delivers sportier credentials, the MG4 holds its value well and undercuts many competitors on price. For budget-conscious buyers seeking a modern, well-equipped electric hatchback with genuine enjoyment factor, the MG4 represents outstanding value. The XPower variant also provides an exciting and affordable performance option in a market increasingly dominated by premium brands.
