MG ZS SUV (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Generous kit and affordable prices | A bit so-so to drive |
| Good interior quality given the price | No reach adjustment on the steering column |
| Looks pretty stylish | Lots of road noise |
Quick Summary
The MG ZS SUV (2024-present) is a thoroughly convincing evolution of its predecessor, offering more space, practicality, and standard equipment than most rivals at a lower cost. This second-generation model now adds smart styling, impressive interior quality, and low hybrid running costs to the formula. With a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with electric motors delivering 193bhp, it achieves an impressive 55.4mpg and produces 115g/km of CO2 emissions. The spacious 443-litre boot expands to 1,457 litres with the rear seats folded, making it genuinely practical for families. A generous seven-year warranty provides additional peace of mind.
Whilst not without flaws—the powertrain can sound raucous occasionally, road noise is pronounced at higher speeds, and rivals offer more comfortable rides—these are acceptable compromises given the exceptional value-for-money proposition. The ZS provides roomy accommodation for four adults, with six-way adjustable front seats and a well-appointed cabin featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For budget-conscious buyers seeking a practical, well-equipped compact SUV, the MG ZS is certainly worth considering.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers, families seeking practical space and generous equipment, and those prioritising value-for-money over driving dynamics.
Not ideal for: Drivers prioritising premium ride comfort, those requiring steering wheel reach adjustment, or buyers sensitive to road noise at motorway speeds.

Consider alternatives if: You prioritise premium ride comfort, require steering wheel reach adjustment, or are sensitive to road noise at motorway speeds.
Competitive Position: The MG ZS SUV (2024-present) is a strong contender in the compact SUV market, delivering exceptional value-for-money with generous kit, good interior quality, and low hybrid running costs. Whilst the Renault Captur edges ahead on expert rating and the Toyota Yaris Cross excels in user satisfaction, the MG ZS remains highly competitive for budget-conscious buyers. Its affordability, spaciousness, and comprehensive warranty make it a sensible choice, though rivals offer superior ride comfort and driving refinement.
