Peugeot 3008 (2016-2023) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Cabin is spacious and well made | Not an exciting car to drive |
| Lots of high-tech equipment | Panoramic sunroof eats into headroom |
| Affordable running costs | Hybrid 4 only comes in pricey GT trim |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 3008 (2016-2023) is a stylish and practical compact crossover that represents a significant step upmarket from its predecessor. This second-generation model delivers a contemporary cabin with a distinctive i-Cockpit digital instrument panel, premium build quality, and impressive interior space. The boot is particularly generous, and all models come equipped with modern safety features including automatic emergency braking. A 2021 facelift brought a more prominent grille and revised headlamps, whilst trim levels were subtly reshuffled to enhance the range's appeal.
The 3008 prioritises comfort and relaxation over driving excitement, making it ideal for families seeking a practical and well-equipped SUV. Engine options include efficient petrol and diesel units, with the 1.5-litre BlueHDi 130 diesel and 1.2 PureTech 130 petrol offering the best balance of performance and economy. A plug-in hybrid model is also available for those seeking lower running costs. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are offered across the range. Running costs are competitive, with fixed-price servicing available from £199 annually for cars over three years old. The 3008 achieved a five-star EuroNCAP safety rating and remains one of the best family SUVs available on the secondhand market.
Best for: Families seeking a spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable SUV with excellent build quality and affordable running costs, and those prioritising practicality and technology over driving dynamics.
Not ideal for: Drivers wanting an engaging driving experience, those with limited headroom requirements (especially with panoramic sunroof), or buyers seeking the plug-in hybrid in lower trim levels.

The Verdict
You should buy the 3008 if: You're seeking a spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable SUV with excellent build quality and affordable running costs, and prioritise practicality and technology over driving dynamics.
Consider alternatives if: You want an engaging driving experience, require maximum headroom with a panoramic sunroof, or need the plug-in hybrid in lower trim levels.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 3008 (2016-2023) is a strong contender in the compact crossover market, offering excellent value with its spacious cabin, premium build quality, and comprehensive technology. Whilst the Skoda Karoq edges ahead with a higher expert rating and user satisfaction, the 3008 remains highly competitive, particularly for buyers prioritising interior space and affordable running costs. It matches the Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage on overall ratings, but offers superior cabin quality and a more upmarket feel. The 3008 is an excellent choice for families seeking a practical, comfortable, and well-equipped family SUV.

What people say
The car was advertised as ex demo low mileage and it was as described. Top of the range but no extras and good value.
Excellent vehicle terrific build quality, and a dream to drive.
This is a truly exceptional SUV. I bought a 69 reg 3008 GT premium and I love how futuristic it looks. I can not find anything to complain about. The 1.5 litre diesel engine is very smooth and quiet when driving. With steady non rushed driving I get around 60mpg. The 8 speed auto is the best I have had. It beats the 7 g tronic MB box and the BMW gearbox. It is sublimely smooth. You must check what the spec is before you buy because even the premium doesn’t always get leather and adaptive cruise. All in all a superb car
Does everything we need of it. V comfortable, quiet, economical and extremely pleasant to look at! Love it.
Excellent , good looking car with lots of internal space. Hood spec, all the bells & whistles expected with a premium priced motor . Not capacity not great but option of folding down the rear seats to gain extra room. Fantastic alloys
