Quick Summary
The Skoda Fabia Mk4 is a spacious, practical, and affordable supermini that delivers exceptional value for money. Built on the MQB-A0 platform, it's significantly larger than its predecessor, offering 110mm extra length and 90mm more wheelbase. The result is generous legroom for front and rear passengers, plus a 380-litre boot—matching the Volkswagen Golf and Seat Leon from the class above. With quality cabin finishes, comprehensive safety features, and a range of petrol engines delivering 79bhp to 148bhp, the Fabia balances comfort and practicality effortlessly. The new Fabia 130 offers a sportier alternative with 174bhp and a seven-speed DSG automatic, though manual transmission isn't available.
Running costs are competitive, with fuel economy ranging from 50.7mpg to 56.8mpg depending on engine and transmission choice. CO2 emissions are impressively low, resulting in just £180 VED for new cars. The cabin rivals any competitor for quality and sophistication, whilst Skoda's extensive accessory range—from roof racks to dog-related items—enhances practicality further. The Fabia prioritises comfort over excitement, delivering a refined, quiet, and composed driving experience. For budget-conscious buyers seeking a bigger-than-average car with smaller-than-average pricing, the Fabia represents outstanding value without compromising on quality, technology, or safety.
Best for: Growing families, budget-conscious buyers, commuters seeking comfort and practicality, and those wanting a spacious supermini with excellent value.
Not ideal for: Drivers prioritising sporty handling or thrilling performance, or those seeking a manual gearbox in the Fabia 130.

The Verdict
You should buy the Fabia if: You're seeking a spacious, practical supermini with excellent value, prioritise comfort and refinement, or need a family-friendly car without premium pricing.
Consider alternatives if: You demand sporty handling, thrilling performance, or require a manual gearbox in a performance variant.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Fabia Mk4 is a standout in the supermini market, offering more interior space and practicality than most rivals whilst maintaining competitive pricing. It matches the Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza for expert ratings and overall appeal, yet undercuts them on price. The Fabia's quality, comfort, and refinement rival any competitor, making it an intelligent choice for budget-conscious buyers. Whilst the Hyundai i20 offers strong user ratings, the Fabia delivers superior practicality and value. The new Fabia 130 also provides an exciting, affordable performance option that few rivals can match at this price point.

What people say
I can recommend Skodas as reliable and sturdy. I drove Skodas as Taxis for many years and more and more Taxi owners adopted them as vehicle of choice for their business.
I love this car! It has exceeded my expectations. Ive had the car for a few days, filled it up for £57 and have driven about 200 miles and there is still over half a tank left. It really is a joy to drive. Gear changing is smooth, it absorbs the bumps in the road really well. Its nippy around town and is really good to drive on the motorways picking up speed very quickly. It doesnt make too much noise when driving on the motorway. The surround sound is brilliant. Its spacious inside. I love the touchscreen functions. Love the fact also that it looks a bit sporty. I highly recommend it.
The Skoda Fabia 1.4 petrol is a cracking little car, packed brim full with useful features. It consistently comes in the top 5 small estate cars. Easy to drive, loads of space, all the safety features, excellent adjustment for seat height, fire and aft adjustment and steering wheel adjustment. Quiet to drive and very economical.
