Skoda Superb (2025) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Outstanding interior space and practicality | Interior design and quality don't match premium rivals |
| Well-equipped across all trims | A BMW 5 Series is more enjoyable to drive |
| Comfortable ride and very refined | Reduced boot space in the plug-in hybrid |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Superb is one of the most practical and spacious large cars available, offering exceptional value for money. Available as both hatchback and estate, it provides more interior space than many premium-badged rivals at a significantly lower price. The hatchback features a 645-litre boot, whilst the estate offers an impressive 690-litre capacity. The latest generation combines a cleaner design with enhanced technology and a broader mix of electrified powertrains, including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options. All versions use a DSG automatic transmission, with most being front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive reserved for more powerful engines.
The Superb prioritises comfort and refinement over dynamic handling, making it ideal for long-distance cruising with excellent sound insulation and suspension that smooths out rough roads. Engine options include a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with mild hybrid delivering 148bhp, a 2.0-litre TDI diesel available in 148bhp or 190bhp variants, a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol with 261bhp, and a plug-in hybrid combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for 201bhp. The trim line-up is clearly defined: SE Technology and SE L focus on value and comfort, SportLine brings aggressive styling with lowered suspension, whilst the flagship Laurin & Klement offers premium materials and enhanced technology as a genuine alternative to the Audi A6 or Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Best for: Families seeking maximum practicality and space, long-distance commuters valuing comfort and refinement, and buyers wanting premium-level space at a fraction of the cost of premium-badged rivals.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising dynamic handling or the most premium interior finishes, or drivers seeking a more exciting driving experience.

The Verdict
You should buy the Superb if: You're seeking maximum practicality and interior space, value long-distance comfort and refinement, or want premium-level space at a fraction of the cost of premium-badged rivals.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise dynamic handling, the finest interior finishes, or desire a more exciting driving experience.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Superb stands out as the best-value large car on the market, offering more space than premium-badged rivals at a significantly lower price. Whilst it doesn't deliver the most exciting drive or the most premium-feeling interior, the Superb excels where it matters most: comfort, space, and value. Its boot capacity beats most other estate cars for load-carrying ability, and the comprehensive trim line-up ensures there's a specification to suit every need. Whether you opt for the hatchback or estate, the Superb remains one of the most sensible and convincing large cars you can buy.

4.6 Overall rating
(20 reviews)Slightly expensive but in very good condition! Nothing comparable. to a Skoda Superb
Good spec. Similar in size to A6 avant. Good value for what you get
Reliable robust vehicle, spectacular inside with many extras as standard. Owned one of these before, never broke, just normal running costs, amazing on fuel.
In SEL format this car is extremely well speced. It provides a great level of standard internal items which are considered high cost extras on many similar vehicles such as the Mercedes C class or Audi A4. Models to go for are the extremely frugal diesels with DSG gearboxes. Reliability is first class and running costs relatively low compared with similar cars.
Cream leather comfort encased in metallic maroon elegance. Economic space ship with cruise control. Luxury unbound.
