Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very keenly priced | Big jump in price between Motion and Ultra spec |
| Loaded with luxury and safety kit | Some rivals have longer warranties |
| Excellent 1.4-litre petrol engine | Only adequate ride and handling |
Quick Summary
The Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) is a comprehensively reworked midsize family SUV that addresses many of its predecessor's shortcomings. With a smarter appearance, improved interior quality, enhanced practicality, and a more civilised driving experience, it now presents a compelling alternative in a highly competitive segment. The 430-litre boot is spacious enough for most families, whilst the cabin features a logical layout with an intuitive touchscreen infotainment system and solid build quality throughout.
Priced aggressively compared to rivals, the S-Cross offers exceptional value for money with generous standard equipment across both Motion and Ultra trim levels. The 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo engine delivers bullish performance with smooth, quiet operation, whilst the mild hybrid powertrain achieves respectable fuel economy of around 48-53mpg depending on specification. Although the ride and handling are merely adequate rather than exceptional, and rear headroom can be limited, the S-Cross represents a sensible, well-equipped choice for budget-conscious family buyers seeking a practical midsize SUV.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking a well-equipped family SUV, those prioritising value for money and generous standard kit, and families needing practical, affordable midsize transport.
Not ideal for: Buyers seeking the finest ride comfort or handling dynamics, those requiring maximum rear headroom, or those wanting to avoid the significant price jump between Motion and Ultra specifications.

The Verdict
You should buy the S-Cross if: You're seeking a well-equipped family SUV with excellent value for money, prioritising generous standard kit and affordability over premium dynamics.
Consider alternatives if: You require the finest ride comfort and handling, need maximum rear headroom, or wish to avoid the significant price differential between trim levels.
Competitive Position: The Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) is a strong contender in the midsize family SUV market, offering exceptional value and comprehensive standard equipment that rivals struggle to match at comparable prices. Whilst it may not deliver the dynamic finesse of some competitors or match the user ratings of the Hyundai Tucson and Nissan Qashqai, its aggressive pricing, practical design, and well-engineered 1.4-litre engine make it a compelling choice for budget-conscious buyers. The S-Cross represents a sensible, honest alternative that delivers genuine value without compromise.

4.4 Overall rating
(5 reviews)Probably best value for money car at the market right now. Don't expect luxury you get a day-to-day workhorse for family that will keep you on the road for years ahead
An excellent car, really comfortable drive, great suspension, awesome boot space- can fit a double mattress with seat down! 4x4 function is better than the Vitara!. And its economical too :)
The vehicle was well equipped which I liked, I would compare it to the Mitsubishi ASX
The car appears to be robust and sound although the other items of interior may match with sister SUVs.
This car is great for people who are not very good at technology and who want: space, practicality and safety
