Suzuki Vitara (2015-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Good to drive, and comfortable too | Disappointing interior quality |
| Lively 1.4-litre engine | 1.0-litre model is quite slow |
| Lots of space inside | Vague steering |
Quick Summary
The Suzuki Vitara (2015-present) is a compact SUV that offers a compelling blend of practicality, driving enjoyment, and versatility. With generous interior space, comfortable seating for four adults, and a boot offering 289-362 litres depending on powertrain, it provides excellent everyday usability. The Vitara excels with its engaging driving dynamics, sharp body control, and available four-wheel drive, whilst the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers lively performance. Well-equipped across all trim levels with air-conditioning, alloy wheels, and touchscreen infotainment as standard, it represents a smart choice in the competitive compact SUV segment.
Running costs are reasonable, with the 1.6-litre diesel achieving around 55mpg and petrol variants managing 40-50mpg depending on specification. Suzuki servicing is competitively priced, and petrol models benefit from timing chains that last the car's lifetime. However, the cabin features disappointing plastics that feel less premium than rivals, and the steering lacks feedback despite being light and responsive. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol, whilst economical, lacks the responsiveness of earlier engines. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Vitara offers excellent reliability and represents outstanding value in its class.
Best for: Buyers seeking a practical, spacious compact SUV with engaging driving dynamics, those wanting four-wheel drive versatility, and drivers prioritising reliability and value for money.
Not ideal for: Those demanding premium interior quality, buyers wanting the most refined driving experience, or those requiring maximum rear passenger comfort for three adults.

The Verdict
You should buy the Vitara if: You want a practical, spacious compact SUV with engaging driving dynamics, four-wheel drive versatility, excellent reliability, and outstanding value for money.
Consider alternatives if: You demand premium interior quality, prioritise the most refined driving experience, or require maximum rear passenger comfort for three adults.
Competitive Position: The Suzuki Vitara (2015-present) is a standout choice in the compact SUV market, combining practicality, driving enjoyment, and versatility at an excellent price point. Whilst the Seat Arona offers a slightly higher overall rating and the Vauxhall Mokka boasts strong user satisfaction, the Vitara delivers superior driving dynamics and more engaging performance. The Citroen C3 Aircross provides similar value but lacks the Vitara's driving appeal. For buyers seeking a well-rounded compact SUV that balances space, capability, and driving pleasure, the Vitara represents an intelligent and rewarding choice.

(6 reviews)Customers say
The Suzuki Vitara has garnered positive feedback for its compact size, making it easy to park and drive. Owners appreciate the vehicle's comfort, impressive visibility, and the feel-good handling it offers. However, some noted issues with road and wind noise that can detract from the overall driving experience. The boot space could be larger, but most find it acceptable, contributing to the vehicle's good value for the price.

What people say
Unlike many 4wd cars that are the size of tanks, the Vitara is compact outside which makes for easier parking and driving in narrow spaces. Its comfortable and has great all-round views through large windows. Theres some road and wind noise which spoils the experience but its a feel-good drive that handles easily. The shape is a personal choice but I think it stands out from most big-car style 4wds. Boot space could be bigger but its not a deal changer for me. I really like this car and Ive had about 15-20 in my lifetime (some wrecks, some gems) but Id recommend the Vitara.
Reasonably good value for price compared with market competition . Sufficient extras for the senior driver.
I would say this car has too any good features to list, but the main thing with this particular model is it's proven reliability . And it's great value for money.
I think the car is reasonably priced, and would be a decent buy .I would compare it to a nissan qashqai.
Test driven an auto Suzuki vitara last week, very impressive car which was a full hybrid, did some research on hybrids which are ok if you do regular driving but not for me, as I do not. Having said that, they are an excellent buy, with lots of extras.
