Vauxhall Zafira Tourer (2011-2018) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very cheap to buy as a used car | The 1.8-litre petrol is weedy |
| Flexible and practical cabin for seven | Some MPVs have more space in the third row |
| Efficient and punchy diesel engines | A Ford S-Max is more enjoyable to drive |
Quick Summary
The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer (2011-2018) is a spacious and practical seven-seater MPV that offers exceptional value as a used car. Longer and wider than its predecessor, it provides considerably more room despite being closely related to the Astra. The Flex7 seating system is ingeniously flexible, folding, sliding, and lowering to accommodate various configurations, with a generous 710 litres of boot space when the third row is stowed. Well-equipped even at entry level, the Zafira Tourer includes air-conditioning, cruise control, and six airbags as standard, with higher trims offering additional features and technology.
Engine options include a 138bhp 1.8-litre petrol, a more efficient 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol, and a range of diesel units. The standout 1.6-litre CDTi diesel, introduced in 2013, is smooth, quiet, and capable of around 50mpg in real-world driving, whilst the 168bhp 2.0-litre CDTi combines strong performance with good fuel economy. Running costs are reasonable for a seven-seater, with diesel models particularly economical. Service intervals occur annually or every 20,000 miles, and Vauxhall dealers offer competitive rates, though independent specialists often provide better value for cars of this age.
Best for: Budget-conscious families seeking a practical seven-seater, those prioritising flexible seating and storage, and buyers wanting excellent value for money.
Not ideal for: Those seeking premium interior finishes, drivers wanting engaging handling comparable to a Ford S-Max, or those requiring maximum third-row legroom.

The Verdict
You should buy the Zafira Tourer if: You're a budget-conscious family seeking a practical seven-seater, prioritising flexible seating and storage, or wanting excellent value for money.
Consider alternatives if: You desire premium interior finishes, engaging handling comparable to a Ford S-Max, or require maximum third-row legroom.
Competitive Position: The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer (2011-2018) is an outstanding value proposition in the used MPV market. Whilst rivals like the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso offer more stylish interiors and the Ford S-Max provides superior driving dynamics, the Zafira Tourer's combination of affordability, practicality, and flexible seating makes it an excellent choice for families. With buyers increasingly turning to SUVs, MPV prices have fallen significantly, making the Zafira Tourer a genuine bargain for those prioritising space and versatility over premium appeal or driving engagement.

4.3 Overall rating
(4 reviews)There was damage to the near side sill plus the rear bumper I was assured this was to be rectified. There was also evidence that the period between service was erratic which did not give confidence of the quality of the vehicle history.
The Zafira Tourer is a great 7 seater. I have the 2018 model and its pretty much similar size to The Ford S Max but ££££ cheaper. Its got all the technology I can deal with! Im over the moon with my purchase.
Sat.Nav., sunroof and glasses compartment will make this vehicle the best .
