The Kia EV2 is the Korean brand’s smallest electric car yet, and will be a rival for cars such as the Renault 4 E-Tech and forthcoming Skoda Epiq and Volkswagen ID.Cross when it goes on sale in summer 2026. The EV2 features the kind of bold styling we’ve come to expect from new Kia models, a maximum battery range of almost 280 miles and a likely starting price of about £25,000.

2026 Kia EV2: styling and dimensions
The Kia EV2 is the latest example of Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language, with a sharp-edged look and striking details that echo the styling of its larger models. At the front there are headlamps with a vertical emphasis, with separate lighting units featuring similar arrow-like lighting elements. Kia refers to it as its ‘Star Map Light Signature’.
Viewed from the front or side, the EV2 bears a strong resemblance to the larger Kia EV3, although the EV2 has more upright, blocky proportions. Both cars have lots of chunky black cladding around the wheel arches, door sides and front bumper, as well as gloss-black A-pillar trim for a ‘floating roof’ effect and flush door handles for maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
Alloy wheel sizes for the EV2 range from 16 inches to 19 inches, while Kia says that solid, metallic, pearl, and matte paint options will be available.
At 4,060mm long the EV2 is 240mm (almost 10 inches) shorter than the Kia EV3 and about the same length as a Volkswagen Polo. It’s shorter than the Renault 4 E-Tech, a key rival, but a fraction taller.
2026 Kia EV2: interior design and practicality
The interior of the Kia EV2 follows the pattern set by all its recent models, with a very similar look and familiar tech features. The dashboard design has a strong horizontal emphasis, with the top half of it dominated by a large widescreen display. As in other Kias, what looks like one seamless screen is, in fact, separate screens. In the case of the EV2 there’s a 12.3-inch driver display, a 5.3-inch climate control screen, and a 12.3-inch centre touchscreen display.
Kia says the EV2 has a ‘calming cabin’ that features eco-friendly materials. We think the fabric dashboard and door trim certainly create a warm, inviting look, while carpets and trim made from recycled fishing nets boost the EV2’s sustainability creds.
The EV2’s high roofline and independent sliding/reclining rear seats ought to make it impressively practical for such a small car. Kia quotes a maximum boot space of 362 litres (slightly less than a Ford Focus) with the rear seats in their rear-most position and 403 litres with them pushed all the way forward. Decent, but not quite a match for the 420-litre capacity of the Renault 4 E-Tech and well short of the Ford Puma Gen-E’s 523-litre load space. There is a frunk, too, with a capacity of 15 litres that makes it large enough for an overnight bag or a couple of pairs of shoes.
2026 Kia EV2: engines and driving dynamics
There are two battery choices for the Kia EV2: a 42.2kWh standard battery that gives a maximum range of approximately 197 miles (the figures are yet to be finalised) and a 61.0kWh long-range battery that gives a range of 278 miles. Most rivals offer one battery option and a range of about 250 miles.
Kia hasn’t confirmed maximum charging speeds but quotes a time of 30 minutes for a 10-80% charge using a rapid DC charger with either battery.
A range of driver assistance features will be available for the EV2, including a Highway Driving Assist function, a front collision avoidance system, a blind-spot monitor and a surround-view monitor.
2026 Kia EV2: price and release date
Kia hasn’t confirmed prices or an on-sale date for the EV2 yet but it’s expected to arrive in summer 2026, with a likely starting price of about £25,000. Top-spec models are expected to nudge over the £30,000 barrier but because the EV2 is produced in Slovakia it’s expected to be eligible for the Government’s Electric Car Grant of up to £3,750.
Specs haven’t been finalised, but Kia has confirmed that there’ll be a GT-Line model and we’d expect the usual Air and GT-Line S trims will also be offered.
