Chinese brand Omoda is expanding its UK range with this, the 2026 Omoda 7. It slots into the range between the Omoda 5 and Omoda 9 as a rival for cars such as the Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Tiguan. It goes on sale in January 2026, with prices starting at £29,915.
Here’s the full lowdown on the 2026 Omoda 7.
2026 Omoda 7: Price, Specs and Release Date

2026 Omoda 7: Styling and dimensions
The Omoda 7 shares some styling themes with the smaller Omoda 5 and larger Omoda 9, but it has a more edgy look than either. At the front there’s an unusually flush look, with the bumper, bonnet and grille all appearing to flow into one. Although Omoda describes a ‘borderless diamond-pattern grille’ it is, in fact, made up of hexagons of varying sizes.
While the headlights have a simple LED light signature, the rear lights have a striking ‘lightning bolt’ design. Flush door handles help to improve airflow and there are 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels, depending on trim. Five exterior colours are available: Selenite White, Obsidian Black, Chromite Silver, Larimar Green and Iced Moonstone.
At 4,660mm long, the Omoda 7 is about 100mm (4 inches) longer than rivals such as the Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Tiguan, although its width and height measurements are similar.

2026 Omoda 7: Interior design and practicality
Inside, the Omoda 7 has a more hard-edged, minimalist look than in the Omoda 5 or Omoda 9. A landscape-format 15.6-inch touchscreen sits in the middle of the dashboard, with a separate 10.25-inch screen for the driver display. The high-set centre console has a wireless charging pad and a few buttons, but the overall look is almost Tesla-like in its simplicity.
The Omoda 7 is a five-seater only, and it’s likely to offer good rear-seat legroom thanks to a 2,720mm wheelbase that’s longer than that of the Sportage or Tiguan, as well as cars that are longer overall such as the Honda CR-V.
Boot space is an impressive 639 litres – more than any Sportage can offer although 13 litres short of a petrol Tiguan model. Omoda hasn’t confirmed details, but the 7 appears to have a conventional 60/40 split rear seat. That’s the norm, but some rival cars have a more versatile 40/20/40 split-folding function and/or a sliding seat base.

2026 Omoda 7: Engines and driving dynamics
The Omoda 7 will be available as a pure-petrol model, or with the same plug-in hybrid powertrain used in other Omoda models and those of sister brands Chery and Jaecoo. As a bit of background, Chery is one of the largest Chinese car brands. It introduced its subsidiary brands Omoda and Jaecoo to the UK in 2024 and early 2025 respectively, followed by its own-brand Chery models in autumn 2025.
The petrol engine in the Omoda 7 is a turbocharged 1.6 with 145bhp that has a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic gearbox as standard. We’ve reviewed the Jaecoo 7 with the same set-up and weren’t hugely impressed by it, although updated software could make a big difference.
Alternatively there’s the same ‘Super Hybrid System’ (SHS) that’s also available for the Jaecoo 7. This pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an 18.3 kWh battery and an electric motor for a total output of 201bhp and a 0-62mph time of 8.4 seconds – a full two seconds quicker than the petrol. Maximum battery range in EV mode is 56 miles – average for the class but well short of the Tiguan PHEV’s 75-mile range. All versions are front-wheel-drive only.

2026 Omoda 7: Price and release date
