Jaguar F-Pace (2016-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Great to drive | High running costs with V8 models |
| Good standard equipment | Poor interior quality on pre-facelift cars |
| Roomy and practical | Firm ride, especially on larger wheels |
Quick Summary
The Jaguar F-Pace (2016-present) is Jaguar's first venture into the premium midsize SUV market, combining sharp handling and responsive steering with practical family-friendly space. Launched in 2015 and arriving in 2016, it competes directly with established rivals such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Land Rover Discovery Sport. The F-Pace delivers a sporty, engaging driving experience with an impressive engine line-up ranging from efficient diesels to a thrilling supercharged V8 SVR variant. A comprehensive 2021 facelift significantly improved interior quality and infotainment, making later examples considerably more appealing than earlier versions.
The F-Pace excels in practicality, offering over 600 litres of boot space on most versions and generous rear legroom and headroom. Standard equipment is generous across the range, with modern post-facelift models featuring the intuitive Pivi Pro touchscreen system. Running costs vary considerably depending on engine choice, with diesel variants achieving around 40-45mpg, whilst the V8 SVR demands premium fuel and returns just over 20mpg. The firm ride and higher noise levels may not suit all buyers, but for those seeking a family SUV that combines heart with practicality, the F-Pace delivers in spades.
Best for: Drivers seeking a premium SUV with engaging handling, families requiring spacious practicality, and those wanting a performance option with the SVR variant.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising maximum comfort over sportiness, those seeking the lowest running costs, or those wanting the absolute finest interior quality in the class.

The Verdict
You should buy the F-Pace if: You seek a premium SUV with engaging handling, require spacious practicality for families, or want a thrilling performance option with the SVR variant.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise maximum comfort over sportiness, seek the lowest running costs, or require the absolute finest interior quality in the class.
Competitive Position: The Jaguar F-Pace is a strong contender in the premium midsize SUV market, offering excellent driving dynamics and practicality that rivals the best in class. Whilst the BMW X3 edges ahead on expert rating and overall score, the F-Pace matches or exceeds its competitors on user satisfaction and value for money. The 2021 facelift significantly narrowed the quality gap with German rivals, making later examples genuinely competitive. Its engaging handling sets it apart from more conservative competitors, and the SVR variant offers thrilling performance at a more accessible price point than equivalent Porsche or Range Rover offerings. For buyers wanting a family SUV with genuine driving appeal, the F-Pace represents excellent value.

Overall, owners of the Jaguar F-PACE appreciate its comfort, performance, and reliable handling across various model years. They particularly like the responsive steering and spacious interior, enhanced by features like panoramic roofs. What people say
I have never driven another car that is as responsive as the jaguar and the quality of finish is superb
Comparing to E-Pace same year 2020 similar model the trim level isnt as nice. It feels less luxurious. However its still pure class. And the glass roof makes traveling in the back so nice. Mpg in the 2lt diesel version averages mid 40s mpg. Its a solid capable large car. The E-Pace was a really nice car to drive and look at however boot space was lacking and I was forever getting battery issues.
Fantastic car great mpg its not got as much on it as xf but still a great care, its great value overall
Outstanding vehicle with great features and fantastic handling all round
Base model has no reversing camera which I do miss. Apart from that a very comfortable ride, firm responsive steering. Cant wait to do some long drives.
